Artist in Residency – Detroit to Berlin – Call for Applications
Calling all electronic music producers & DJs from Detroit! We are excited to announce the Berlin Residency 2024 program, a unique opportunity for a solo artist to participate in our six to eight-week artist-in-residency program. We are seeking musicians who excel in electronic music, are open to cross-cultural production processes, and are ready to engage in interdisciplinary exchange. Applicants should possess knowledge of Detroit and Berlin music scenes, be self-driven, and be willing to act as a co-host for a Berlin artist during their stay in Detroit.
The Berlin Residency 2024 is an extraordinary tandem residency that fosters collaboration between musicians from Detroit and Berlin. The program offers a unique exchange opportunity by enabling one artist from Detroit to spend six to eight weeks in Berlin, while a Berlin artist spends six weeks in Detroit. The selected Detroit artist will be provided with accommodation at the artist house ZK/U in Berlin and paired with a Berlin artist for collaborative work and community engagement. Musicboard Berlin will cover costs associated with the stay, including round-trip travel, food, accommodation, working/rehearsal space, and a project-related stipend. As a result of this collaboration, the Berlin artist will be invited for a residency in Detroit, and a presentation of the joint production at the 2024 edition of Musicboard’s Pop-Kultur Festival in Berlin is possible. Applications for the Scholarships & Residencies program will be accepted until June 1, 2023. Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to expand your artistic horizons and build lasting connections!
